Cavetown (& cavetown 2.0)

Cavetown & Cavetown 2.0

2014 - present

This is a multi-year, interview-based performance intergenerational dance-theatre project in the small rural town of Cave Junction, Oregon. Student ensembles from the local elementary, middle and high school conducted interviews with community members and, facilitated by teaching artists Lindsey Gillette, Gina Angelique, and Eliot Feenstra, created a full-length show about the "truths of the valley," local agriculture, and the concerns and dreams of local youth.

The evolving process led to the collective creation of a new show in 2015 and continues as a project of making dance-theatre that reflects on critical local issues and nourishes and cultivates a local 'articultural' ecology.

This project was funded by the Oregon Community Foundation's Studio to School grant in partnership with RiverStars Performing Arts, the Illinois Valley Community Development Organization, local schools, and dancefarm.
